The WSDA® -Base is designed to operate as an integral part of a MicroStrain Wireless Sensing System high speed wireless sensor network. It provides seamless communication between a host PC, Single Board Computer or microcontroller and remote wireless nodes, including the SG-Link® -mXRS™ and SG-Link® -OEM-S wireless strain nodes, G-Link® -mXRS™ wireless accelerometer node, and DVRT-Link™ -mXRS™ wireless displacement node.
The WSDA® -Base provides USB 2.0 or serial connectivity in a small rugged form factor, and supports a wide range of programmable sampling modes. Multiple nodes can communicate over a single radio channel and data can be acquired simultaneously on varying schedules (sec, min, hrs), or in bursts (up to 100 KHz), supporting highly scalable wireless sensor networks.
WSDA® -Base-101 has an additional analog out back panel that supports analog data acquisition equipment (DAQs). Up to 8 sensor channels from one or multiple wireless nodes operating in low duty cycle mode can be fed into a DAQ with simultaneous digital feed to PC, or a DAQ with PC removed (stand-alone configuration).
With MicroStrain Node Commander® software, users can configure and initiate nodes through the Synchronized Sampling Wizard. The wizard allots each node a unique transmission time slot to prevent transmission collisions using embedded Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA) protocols. The nodes' data acquisition schedules are prioritized to insure synchronous sampling.
Synchronized systems give users unprecedented control over their wireless networks.
At the heart of MicroStrain's extended range synchronized (mXRS™) system is the WSDA® -Base, which uses our exclusive beaconing protocols to synch precision timekeepers embedded within each sensor node in the network. The WSDA® -Base also coordinates data collection from all MicroStrain sensor nodes. Users can easily program each node on the scalable network for simultaneous, periodic, or burst mode sampling with our Node Commander® software, which then automatically configures network radio communications to maximize the aggregate sample rate.
