Force Sensor Matrix

Crash Test Sensors Applicable to Automobile Equipment & Barriers
KYOWA strain-gage crash test sensors measure impact-initiated tension applied through the dummy to the seat belt, the characteristics to absorb the impact applied to the steering wheel in three directions in conformity with the automobile safety standard of each country, and the distribution of impact-initiated load to the barrier. KYOWA also provides clamp-style vehicle-borne bridge boxes.

The force sensor matrix is designed to be mounted to a fixed barrier to detect impact-initiated forces applied to the objects under test. It consists of 128 strain gage load cells arranged in 8 columns by 16 rows and enables force distribution on the crashed surface. The force detecting direction is vertical to the barrier and each cell is available with a rated capacity of 300 or 500 kN.

Specifications:

  • Rated Capacity: 500 kN x 48 cells & 300 kN x 80 cells
  • Nonlinearity: Within ±1% RO (in static calibration)
  • Hysteresis: Within ±1% RO (in static calibration)
  • Rated Output: Approx. 0.75 mV/V (1500 µm/m) for each cell
  • Safe Temperature Range: -10 to 70°C

The rated capacity, the number of cells and the cell size can be changed as specified.
A force sensor matrix for offset barrier can also be manufactured.
